Welcome to the City of Dallas! One of the benefits of being an employee of the City of Dallas is the Employees' Retirement Fund pension plan. ERF is a defined benefit plan that provides retirement benefits, death benefits and disability benefits. This section of the web site will explain what benefits you qualify for as a new employee, what information ERF needs from you and links to learn more about your pension benefit.
Your Beneficiary
For the purposes of the ERF your spouse, dependant child or parent is your beneficiary. If you are married the Fund asks that you provide a copy of your marriage license that will be put in your pension file. If you want to name your dependant adult child or parent as beneficiary you need to submit a signed Beneficiary form. No form is necessary for a spouse or underage dependant child.
Your Designee
A designee is someone other than your beneficiary you want to name in case of your death and your beneficiary's death. The fill in designee form is provided on this web site for your convenience. Do not put your beneficiary on the designee form this form is used only in the event of your death and your spouse's death. You can name your estate, anyone or organization. If you have not already filled out the designee form or you think you filled it out incorrectly please complete the form and interoffice mail it to the address on the bottom of the form.
Disability Benefit
If you become permanently disabled while performing your duties for the City you can apply for service disability benefits.
Death Benefit
If you die before you are eligible to retire, your beneficiary or designee will receive a death benefit.
